St Helen Dry Sandford

I only realised the St Helen was there after checking the map where I had to go on my visits. It lined up nicely with the other church nearby. It looked a nice enough church with it's Lych Gate but I was to be disappointed when I got to the door as it was firmly locked due to the church needing some urgent repairs.

Just as a footnote with this panic over COVID 19 which people seem to be running around like headless chickens over I may find it harder to visit the inside of some churches because they are being kept locked over due to the fear of spreading the virus. One church I have to visit I have to arrange for it to be opened. I'm hoping churches will remain open and that I can visit but I do not know how it will pan out.

I agree with your observation that people are over-reacting and around here they are stockpiling items like crazy. Toilet paper is out of stock in many stores. I blame the media for its over diligence.

Sad about the church, which looks lovely, and I do hope they can raise the money needed for restoration.

Yes it's crazy here in the US and I for one am staying home for a while. The stores are quiet, other than grocery stores which have more empty shelves than when we prepare for a hurricane, and people are tense and so worried looking. We do have quite a few people in the area testing positive which is not comforting. Being in the high risk age group, Bob and I will be cautious as to where we go.

As for the media, yes they do tend to over-react as always! However, you may be interested in this video - now a few days old prior to the pandemic being named. It's from Australia and very hard to watch, but definitely an eyeopener and makes one realize just what awful things occur in parts of the world to jeopardize our health and lives!

Stay well Bill - your family also.

I hope you get to explore the churches and that the panic over the virus starts to subside a bit. We all need to be safe and careful, but not so full of panic. Take care there and stay well.

I found out that Oxford has highest level of cases which near is not far from where I live so no doubt there will soon be cases around here because of the local that work there. We certainly live in an awful world

It's worth saving.

Here the museums are closing up for a couple of weeks at least, which threw a monkey in the wrench, as I'd intended to visit one for the blog.

I like the look of the church. Our church is streaming their services online. Everything is closed down for the rest of the month.
Stay safe!
