Snowy Village
A view along a snowy track towards the village of Cholsey. This is a stitch photo I took a while ago. The track is an old Roman road that went through the village once and used to lead to common land until the railway came through, it now leads to Silly Bridge.

Afon Marteg
The Afon Marteg is the river you see flowing through the valley here, the photo is taken from the rail embankment that forms the bridge over it. The Marteg flows from here and joins up with the Wye.
The hill with the plateau in the distance I think is called Moelfryn.

Lost Railway
You may find this hard to believe but just over 52 years ago a railway ran by this river in Wales, it's just below the dark green conifer trees behind an embankment. It was closed in 1961 in the Beeching cutbacks.
The old rail line is now used as a footpath.
Lost Daffodils
I took this photo of a bunch of daffodils five years ago outside the building I worked in they used t be a welcome sight in the spring.
Sadly you can no longer see them as they built a carpark where they were growing

The Emprie strkes back
This dish is on the Rutherford campus where I work and it part of the space science program, it moves around periodically to a different position but on this occasion it reminded me of an Ion Canon from the film the Empire strikes back.

Hard at work
It's a miserable rainy morning here today so I thought a colorful picture to brighten the morning up. A bee hard at work collecting pollen from a flower in our garden.

This is one of my Favorite views, it's taken from Aberedw Hill not far from Built Wells in Wales. Below is Fforest Fields Campsite and well in the distance you can see the hills near New Radnor
I never tire of this view.

On a visit to Fairmile hospital for a quick update on the progress of the site I spotted these two snowmen on the cricket field.

Fun in the Snow
Children and adults playing in the snow at the Mound in Cholsey Recreation ground.
The mound is man made from a pile of spoil from the footings of the pavilion built in the 1960's

Wallingford in the snow
After coming out of Waitrose in Wallingford I was confronted by the spectacle of the marketplace in a snowstorm
Sunk in the floods
A Narrowboat which sank during the floods in December 2012 starts to appear after the floods start to subside.
Think it will be a while till it can be pumped out

Fairmile at Night
Only drove past the place tonight and it's all lit up so it seemed rude not to get a photo.
Looks like another trip back there for a few daylight pictures.

The Old Ferry Landing
Ferry Lane in Cholsey where there was once a ferry that went across the river Thames to where I am stood on the Littlestoke side. In the distance you can see new housing at the former Fairmile Hospital.
The area on the right is called Cholsey Marsh and is now BBONT Nature Reserve.

The notice appeared on one of the lifts at work, I think the note written at the bottom told it all.
They seem to work OK now.

New and Old
The old building at Fairmile Hospital with the New flats that have been built opposite.
The Gates beyond the large planter used to lead to the Airing Courts where mental patients used to be allowed to walk when it was sunny.

Butterfly on a Buddleia
Thought I'd continue with the bug theme and as we all need cheering up on a Monday morning what better than a butterfly on a Buddleia.
It's a peacock Butterfly and they seem to love Buddleia or Butterfly Bush as it is also called, it's also a bit of a weed.

A Poppy
Thought I'd show a flower for a change, this is more of a weed or as most would call it a wild flower. Still a very pretty when you see them and when you see it close up.
Happy New Year Everyone
