Old Culham Bridge
Culham bridge used to be part of the old road that ran from Abingdon and was once a toll bridge (the tollhouse is still there). The bridge spans a cut called swift ditch which is made to bypass Abingdons shallows.
You can see this plaque on the bridge
This is looking across the bridge to the toll house

Beautiful bridge! Hope to visit one day!
I love this history... very cool!
So old...but it Looks so strong !! Great captures !!
Greetings
I love these old stone bridges and the history behind them. We don't seem to have any in Western Australia, mostly they are in Tasmania. But my posts lately seem to have a lot of history in them.
Have a wonderful week. I am linking up to you through Our World Tuesday.
Thank you
It's one of those old bridges that are, think the water helps
I hop you do get to visit.
Funny I used to hate it at school now I find history everywhere
Yes it does, no doubt helped by the fact it does not get traffic now.
When you think about it Australia had not been found when the bridge was built.
What a beautiful old bridge! The reflections are great.
Have a nice Tuesday, Bill.
Beautiful!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Never thought about the reflections when I took the photo it was only after I noticed them
Thank you
Just gorgeous. Beautiful photos.
Not sure what to say other than thanks for the nice comment.
Your photos just make me want to go travel your neck of the woods. One of these days. A civil war skirmish in 1645. That changes my thoughts about equating civil wars only with our North vs. South in the 1860s.
That's a beautiful old bridge.
There was full scale battle in the next town to where I live and one guy was killed in the skirmish on that bridge.
Yes I have to agree especially when you see what is built now.
great shot! wonderful reflections :)
That place is good for refelctions. Thanks for the comment.
