Nuffeld Place

Nuffield Place was the home of Lord Nuffield who was the person who started off Morris Cars in Oxoford. He live at the house untill he died and when his wife died the house was left ot Nuffield college who have no passed it on to the National Trust. One of the requests was that none of the items in the house should be removed so what you see si a tiem capsul.

I think this plaque is off an old building in Oxford

One of the posted in the garage
Another showing what the factory did in the war

Inside Lady Nuffields car

And this is Lady Nuffields car in the garage

Lord Nuffield started out in his working life making bikes

Inside the house it is untouched

Anyone for tea

 The table set for Dinner
The Lord & Lady Nuffields gowns

This is old Money which I use dto use as a kid

One of the rooms had a cubord with the suff Lord Nuffiled used to tinker and make things with, I can relate to all the stuff here

Lady Nuffield was rather thrifty and never threw any thing away. She used to maek cloths and repair them at this table

This house itself

Another viewof the house

Thi sudial is on the side of it

The entrance to the house with one classic car, the near one is a fake made in asia somewhere
Viewof the house with one of the house guids over on the left. He was well worth listening to

On ethis Lord Nuffield made was an Iron Lung, he supplied them to any hospital that asked for one

And this is an Iron Lung, not something I would want to go in but it saved many a childs life.

Mural at the Library

Found this one a few years ago outside Newbury Library but I thought a revisit in order to take some photos of it. As you can see it is quite long so I took a series of frames to give a better idea as it what it was about which is a timeline though Newburys history

Fist frame shows the start of a timeline in 1248

second is the the Newbury Martyrs and the battle of Newbury

Third shows the battles of Newbury

Fourth is the Kennet & Avon Canal

Fifth shows Horse racing and the US 101 airborne at Greenham

And the last is the 3rd Battle of Newbury in 1996

Clas Brook Valley

After visiting a church to get photos of for my other blog I stopped off along a road to get this photo down the valley of Clas Brook.

I think it was worth the few moments I took to stop for the photo

Picnic on the Beach

I showed a photo of a lake my wife & I had a picnic overlooking a while a ago, well we also went to the beach as well. We had the notion of going to the coast near Aberystwyth. Looking at a road map I thought I found a likely spot, little did I realize where we were going.

This is Borth well the good bit of it

The beach just off to my right

and looking down the beach, like I said the good bit.

I took this coming back and missed getting the over developed bit with shops, amusement arcades and gift (tat)shops trying to sell overpriced mementos. They were rebuilding the breakwater on the right after last winter storms. In my opinion they should have let the sea reclaim the place along with the field of Mobile holiday homes nearby

Enough said about that place, after driving through we came out on this beach I think is called Traeth Maelgwyn which is by the River Dovey Estuary

The beach is quite nice and we drove on it and sat and had our picnic looking at this view.

The town opposite is Aberdovey

which did look very picturesque in this photo, mind you it was zoomed in

From where I stood it looked more like this

On the way back I stopped off and took this view of Aberystwyth.

Mural Update

I published a photo of a mural that was going to be painted for our local village hall a while ago, well today I'm going to show what it is looking like now. I can't claim any credit for the photo as it was taken by Mark who is in charge of the painting of the mural. It was taken on his iphone. When it is finished I'll do a larger piece about the mural and explain the  history behind each of the panels. I think it looks great.

Reservoir Sky

My recent trips to Wales have produced some wonderful views and quite a few Skywatches for the coming weeks. This one was taken while my wife and I had a picnic overlooking this the Llyn Brianne reservoir.

You have to admit it was a great place for a picnic.
