Three Months On

It is probably more than that but I had to give the post a name and at least now they are starting to ease thing off here, not that it will make much difference because I feel a lot of people are still wary  of being in contact with people but now we can make our own social bubbles. Mind you I do wonder about some family I hear nearby who seem to have been in their own bubble all the time and none of the live together.
So another week for you in the garden though next week I will show something a little different.

As you come out the back door you pass these Sweet peas that are flourishing wonderfully.

At the greenhouse I have now put out some tomatoes

Around the other side you will find the raised beds now have leeks growing and runner beans

Which I am glad to say seem to be growing well and I am hopeful of a couple of late crops

New addition in the Pond is a water Lilly a small one which is growing well

Look in the Greenhouse and the tomatoes and cucumbers are flourishing.

The Carrots continue to grow

By the fence the peas are taking off and the dwarf beans are flowering

 The Potatoes continue to grow out of sight and the Agatha patha I did not thing was growing has now got flower heads appearing

I will leave you with this rose the Country Parson which smells beautiful and I know you cannot smell it but it reminds me of Sherbet Lemons which for anyone who does not live in the UK is a sweet sold in shops that most people love

St Peter Wootton

As things are being eased in this lock down and from Monday Churches will be open for personal use I am hoping to get back out and visit some new ones.With that thought in mind This week the church explorer takes you to St Peters Church Wootton which was the last church I visited before the virus crisis began I hope you enjoy the church as much as I did Please visit the link to see more

Poppy Clouds

The other week I took our dog to the vets for his check up and while he was in the vets I went to look at a filed that is due to be built on. When I got there I found it covered in poppies the clouds above setting it off

 I doubt you will see poppies here next year, only new houses

The Scarecrow

New Life

We are gradually starting to come out of lock down though we still feel unsure leaving the house unless we have to. The garden is still a place that uplifts our spirits and every morning I go out to see how it is grown during the night.

  In the morning I get up and fill the kettle with water to make tea and look out the window, on the sill are some sweet peas that fill the air with scent and bring joy to the morning

They grow by the back door  and when they are about to flower the get cut to fill the jar to bring more scent to the kitchen

 The vegetables are growing with the peas and beans starting to get bigger, the potatoes grow on out of sight

 In the raised beds the leeks have been planted and are starting to establish themselves, the bean seeds I planted are now sprouting

With new growth now coming out of the ground, there is still hope I will get a crop if a little later than I would have liked.

 The the greenhouse the salad leaf's are about spent and are starting to go to seed

 Beside the trough seed show new growth of the next crop of salad leafs

 The tomatoes cucumbers and carrots are now well established and get taller every day

and now I noticed the first truss on the tomatoes is showing fruit, will not be long before they get picked

Tomb Effigies

This week the Church Explorer is showing some Tomb Effigies and the churches you can see them. Most burials now have quite simple headstones of memorials but go back a hundred years or so and they were quite elaborate and even more so the further back you went.

  This is one of the more modern ones you can be seen at  St Michael & All Angels Clifton Hampden 

Copter Sky

In recent times the sky's have been empty of planes flying over but one thing that is seen quite often are helicopters 

This one is seen more often or not

It is usually seen circling around looking for something or someone

The police helicopter

which is based at the local RAF base

The other one you see flying around is this Boeing Chinook HC4 which fly from base to base in the area

I've yet to get a good shot of one and the other copters like the Merlin and Puma's,which to fly quite over.

The Waterfall

Back in the Greenhouse

Think that is enough excitement with the roses, one still has to bloom but it tends to do that later than the others. It has been a while since I showed how the vegetables were getting on. The biggest disappointment were the runner beans, I put them out too early and the frost got the lot one night

When I checked in the morning this is how the looked, I did try seeing if the could be cut back but the day after they had gone flat so they all went in the compost bin. I have planted more seeds and will have to see if they come up

I did manage to sow the last of the dwarf bean seeds and they have started growing

The Potato's on the other hand are really growing well after being touched by the frost

The tomatoes have now been planted into pot's and are growing well

The Cucumbers were a surprise after planting them in pots they took off and are growing fast

I even noticed a little cucumber growing

These tomato plants are being grown to go outside, beside them the Aubergine's are growing well now

 At the back the chillies grow well

 as do the carrots

 By the end of the day I had planted tow tomatoes that will go outside in a couple of weeks when it is warmer at night
