D is for Dundee

If you remember my earlier post then this photo was taken from the Hill the Dundee Law. The bridge you see to the right is the Tay road bridge my earlier  photo was taken just to the left on the far side

Not the photo I was intending to use but hey you get two for one today as C is also for Canal. The canal is called the Kennet  and the race I stumbled on is the practice for the Devizes to Westminster race. The photo was taken a few miles from Newbury.

F is for Farimile

Fairmile is a former mental hospital in the village I live in. It opened in 1870 and closed in 2003, 2010 work began on converting the building and grounds into housing.
My parents worked there most of their lives and for the two and a half I have been covering the development. You can read my blogs on the place here

Buscot Weir

On Saturday I went off to visit Buscot to get a photo of a pillbox there which I spotted lat year but was unable to get to at the time due to too much undergrowth. On the way back I took some photos of the weir.

 This is the weir

 So I took a series and stitched them to get the weir pool

This is a horse shoe bend which is another stitch.

G is for Goring

"In Englands green & pleasant Land"
The last line in the a Poem by William Blake (also the Hymn Jerusalem) and has become a collocation for the Engish Landscape. The photos I have selected today I think you will agree typify the words.

H is for Harwell

Harwell is the former RAF base that was taken over by the UKAEA (United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority) It is now going through the stage of being decommissioned.
Over to the right you can see the Diamond light Source which is where I work

I is for Issenbard

Isambard Kingdom Brunel one of the greatest inventors the UK has had. He built the Great Western Railway (GWR) which passes over this Bridge called the Moulsford Viaduct. Out of the three bridges which take the GWR over the Thames I think this is my favorite. The bridge is built skewed which adds to it's beauty. The Thames Path passes under it on the opposite side in the photo. 

 The bridge here is called Silly Bridge and if you look the lager arch is the original broad guage arch of the GWR, in the distance is Cholsey Station. Brunel would have been 207 years old on the 8th April.

B is for Bridge

This particular bridge is the Tay Road Bridge looking here from the Newport side towards Dundee. The Hill you see on the right is called the Dundee Law and is an extinct volcano.
