Local Guides

A few years ago I joined Local Guides which uploads photo to Google maps and gives reviews about places. I upload the photos from my iphone after I have been somewhere. Normally this is a Church I visited or if I am in town a shop of scene. The reason I use the photo from my phone is because it has GPS concordance which Google Maps use to locate the place. I do not post them for any notoriety I just post them for people to see. What surprises me is the number of views I get. Today I will show you a few of the photos I post of Google Maps and how many views they have had.

You might remember this one from Friday's skywatch, it was only taken a little over a week ago and to date has had 205 views

This photo of an empty seating area near Jubilee House in Cowley has had 1687 for some reason

Fabulus Flowers has has 2237 since I took it

Oddly though this one I took of a new part of a local garden centre got 6176 views

Jumping back to November 2021, it has had 12400 views.

This shop has had 14000 odd views
The photo I posted on Friday of the Commonwealth War Grave Cemetery mentioned had 60000 views

But this one has had 106752 views which rally stunned me

like this one of a chapel at Horton Hospital which had 94951 views

I never realised that this one of the local pub got 258,303 views

I'll finish with this photo of Wallingford Medical Practice which I noticed was not on Google maps so I went and took this photo, I could not believe when I looked that it had 520,865 views. todate all my photos have had about 5000000 views. I don't consider myself that good a photographer so when I found out the number of views I get, I have wonder why.

  1. The power of Google. It is one of the reasons I don't put photos of the grandchildren on the blog as you just can't control who is looking.

  3. I can understand why you don't but I do not think that has any thing to do with google, more the internet in general

  5. I've never thought about uploading photos to Google Maps, but I do see photos there when I'm looking up addresses and looking for street views. I like seeing how many views your photos have gotten. Wow.
Thank you so much for changing the comment format. I so appreciate it!

  6. Wow, that’s interesting! Years ago I uploaded a few photos to some site that was associated with Google maps, but they discontinued it. I guess they replaced it with Local Guides. Even mighty Google makes mistakes –– remember Google+?

    1. Think you mean Panoramio, I used to post WWII relics on it but they discontinued it in favour of Local Guides. Google+ could have been good
