Some macro shots for you this week of an alien that we came across in the garden, well the pond to be exact. The photos were taken using my Canon EOS R6 camera and an EF2.8 x100 Macro lens. I got as close as I could but to show it closer I have cropped then to show the little alien
There was about three of them on different leaves and it was a bit of a task trying to get a photo.
It looked an odd thing
The eye seemed to be watching all the time
Creeping along, this one is not cropped. It reminded me of the bug from Men in Black. If you are wondering what it is then I can tell you it is the larvae for a Common Darter Dragonfly my wife though she saw them around the pond and we also have seen them in the pond where the larvae live.

That is so interesting, Bill. I don't think I've ever seen dragonfly larvae.Very cool!
We have been watching them in the water for a while, fist time I have seen one outside of it
You did well to capture those shots. I thought they only came out if the water to transform into dragonflies.
We think that is what was going to happen but never saw the event

Great looking insect macro shots. Dragon flies are wonderful insects to have around,
great shot. I rarely see a dragonfly, let alone its larvae.

Yes they are, pity I only see them now and again in the garden
Must admit we have been watching them though this was a surprise
I had a thought that the aliens might be an insect larvae and thanks for both the photos and the explanation, Billy. The smallest things can provide such fascination most days.
