The Boathouse

The Boathouse in Wallingford is a restaurant which has been converted from the original boathouse that you see here. As a youngster a lot of my friend has summer jobs here hiring out rowing boats and small motor launches. I felt it was a sad day when it closed but it is good to see it is still in use.

The photo shows the Thames lapping over into the patio, the restaurant had sandbags in front of the patio doors but escaped flooding.

I'm glad the restaurant was able to hold back the water. It's a great looking building.

Too bad you can't divert some of that excess water in the Thames to California! We are in our third year of drought!

The Boathouse is a beautiful building. Finding another purpose for it was a good thing. Beats tearing it down and sticking up something that may not have been so beautiful.

Believe me Louis if we could we would at the moment
