Building the Bridge

Back in 1993 a new By-Pass was built round Wallingford to relieve the amount of traffic that was going through the town. I felt this work had to be recorded so I set out to photograph as much as I could so started the seeds of my photographing what went on in my area.

The photo shows one of the bridge sections being lifted into place

Here you can see them lifting one of the last sections in place. The last parts were done at night in freezing conditions. You can see the whole story in my Blog here

Great photos Bill. I always marvel at how they get those last sections in place.

Popped over and read the other - great recording of new history! These two photos are excellent and particularly like the night shot. YAM xx

Think that was my favorite to, mind you I got the mother of all colds from standing round in the cold all night

You are a good industrial photographer...these pictures tell the story clearly. Neat to know what got you started on documenting your city.

You should see the latest documentation, I've spent the last three years recording a hospital conversion, not to mention two years recording as shopping center being constructed.
