Cafe & Bar

Cluxham

This village is about a mile & a half down the road from Brightwell Baldwin which I showed last week. The village is recorded in the Domesday book as having 3 water mills and the church still has it's Norman Bell Tower

Now I took this building as a water mill but was mistaken it's one of a row of Almshouses

This road takes you to the Farm and church which you can see in the distance

Opposite the road to the church is this beautiful thatched cottage

The car parked outside added to the romance of the place

The village still has its red phone box thought I could not say if it still had a phone, most do not now a days

Another thatched hose set back near the Almshouses

And a view along the main road leading through the village

The stream that feeds all the water mills mentioned in the Domesday book

Sky at Brightwell Baldwin

If you saw my post earlier this week on Brightwell Baldwin you would have seen a view through the village, well this is another but showing the sky overhead that day

Above is the original photo I took in the village, after posting it Google waved their wand and it came out looking like it does below. You choose which you prefer

The Muffin Van

Brightwell Baldwin

Taken in the beginning of June when I visited the church there. Not much to tell you about the Village other than it's built around the country house there the seat of the Stone Family who are buried in the church there. The house was burnt down in 1786 and rebuilt in 1790 but has since been demolished leaving only the kitchen wing surviving an interesting cruciform dovecote nether of which I saw when I was at the church

The Lord Nelson Public House which is 17th or 18th century

It's now a gastro pub and from what I have seen quite busy

The old pub sign showing its age

And a look up through the village

I'll leave you with this shot of a cottage I saw when I parked up near the church
