Agatha Christie Trail

Walking through Winterbrook outside Wallingford the other week I passed an information display on the Agatha Christie Trail.

The display is situated at  the junction of a road called the Murren  In Agatha's time it was Ferry Farm

Not far away you pass her old Front door as she would know it

By the door is a blur plaque telling you who lived here.
The trail takes you to Cholsey Church where Agatha is buried and I will take you along there in the future

Snow in Wales

After waiting for the snow to clear around Oxfordshire we finally got down to Fforest Fields  a few days later that we hoped we would. The snow was still very much in evidence and only five miles down the road was just about passable though deep snow drifts were still a problem

This is what the site looked when we got there

By Thursday the sun had come out giving blue Sky's and we were  alone on the campsite

The lake still had snow on it and ice under that

No I did not trust the ice to venture on but I did notice a dog had run along the lake. The photo on the left was taken not far away the day before

It shows the surrounding hills with show in the slopes
Bit like the hill over looking the campsite

The next day the ice was thawing out a bit

But still looked cold

Left the snow drift on one of the tracks around the campsite

It was deep enough that you would struggle through

The smaller lake was also frozen along with the duck house
But it did make the background look nice

This was looking towards Radnor Forest where the snow was laying still
Snow was still laying around when we left and we thought it was over but the beast returned after so I'll show some photos from that another time.

It looked very cold even the sun looked muted

Half an hour later the weather looked a lot nicer though not much warmer

Snowy Walk

After the Beast had struck I decided to go for a walk around the village to see how much snow we had. There did not appear to be much around being as most of it was blown about

Church road going over Bunk Arch

The school kids were on a snow day

Bunk Arch is a bridge that goes over an old branch railway now a preserved line. The locals call it the bunk line hence the name of the bridge
Last Wordless Wednesday I did showed some snowdrops. They look a little sorry now

Along with the rest of the churchyard

Not many people had been up here
Agatha Christy's grave looked very lonely in the snow

I took some time to go to the Elms bridge

To get a photo of the station which you may be able to make out through the Gantry's. Last time I took one from this place in similar conditions you could see it clearly
I headed back through some biting cold wind

Past my old school now a retirement home
then past the village green to home, glad to be out of the cold. Next week I will show what it was like in Wales when I went down after the second winter storm we had
