Skywatch

The weather has been foul over in the UK this week and round where I work mostly foggy though today was a bit of an exception and we had sun. I thought I would show some sky's from when my wife & I went out for the day last month. See if you can recognise any of the places I went past.

Slow! Araf

Road Trip

A couple of months ago while my wife & I were in Wales we decided to have a trip to Aberystwyth so I thought I'd show some of what I saw out of the window.

The mountain road

just seems to go on for ever

miles of unspoilt land

and stunning valleys

this part was like a roller coaster ride, I even took video which I need to edit

at the bottom was more valley

and old mine workings
Finally we neared the coast & Aberystwyth. I'll show the return another week

Remembrance day Parade

On remembrance day I went to Newbury  with my wife. Like many other towns & villages up and down the country it had it's parade which I went along to watch. It's the first time I have seen one in a long time

After the service the parade started with the Royal British Legion

Next up seem to be the church choir as that was were they were off to next, they were followed by the town council and mayor who were walking slower than a funeral procession

These two guys were ex forces and were barking out orders you could hear in the next town

another shot of the mace bearers

The Veterans part of the parade

Hero's from the past

and a few of the more able bodied still marching on

just like they were still in the forces

Sargent's at Arms

The Army marches through

Later after the church service the army marched down Northbrook Street taking a salute from a Senior officer as they went by.

Murals by the Altar

If you follow My Graveplace Blog  may have noticed these beautiful murals that have been done by I presume the local children for a Nativity scene. I felt they were worth showing to a wider congregation.

Firework Friday

Here in the UK the 5th November is famous for Guy Fawks night or Bonfire Night when we let off fireworks. The bonfires date back to the Gunpowder plot and after the King proclaimed we should celebrate with bonfires ever 5th November and the tradition had carried on. Usually the weekend either side of the 5th is when the big organised displays are on so last Saturday night my Wife & I watch the one from where I work from the hill overlooking the site. Here are a few of the fireworks I saw. Forgive me but it's the first time I have taken photos of fireworks.
