The Beast is here

A weather warning is in place telling us of a weather front coming our way bringing cold weather. cold I mean by up tless than zero deg C. It has been given a name of the Beast from the East or the Siberian Express.
Well the weather has been cold overight we are seeing tempertures of less -5c and during the day it can be +3c  but with the wind chill it feels colder. this evening I popped down the village and when I left the house I noticed the odd bit of snow by the time I reached the centre this is what I encountered

 Snow was falling

 Covering the pavement

But on the way back it had stopped.

Come morning Batman did not look amused

Chimes

The Global Retreate

I visited a church in the grounds of this place the other week, it used to be Nuneham House home of the Harcourt Family

I took the photos on my way back from the church

But had a walk through some of the grounds on the way to the church
Quite stunning  giant sequoia tree

and equally stunning view towards Oxford

below an ornamental stream

Back past the leaning tree

And this contemplation Temple

I walked past this Mulberry tree that was split down the middle

and noticed it was strapped together using a load strap

Around York

Theses were taken many years ago when I went with my wife to York. The photos were taken on 35mm film so have been scanned up. I only took a few photos at the time

The castle which I never had time to visit

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is the Shambles

Amazed the narrowness of the streets still exist

The Famous Betty's Tea rooms, I never got the chance to visit this place either

Not sure which gate this is with the steps leading to the wall

But they look impressive

And you can see York Minster

Which is even more impressive.

Clouds over the courtyard

I have been taking photos of the new building being constructed that you see in the photo. Once a week I took the changes till it was at this stage. This paticular day I though the sky should be included for a Skywatch Friday.
In this photo I am at the top of an externall stairway looking down

On gound level looking up.

Derelict Retail Park

These were taken on one of my visits to my son when he was in Dundee back in 2010. I noticed this chimney stack in the distance so went to investigate one Sunday morning. The place is now called Stack Leisure Park but at the time looked very derelict

The stack called Cox's Chimney looked like it was from an old mill

The entrance to the retail park did not look very welcoming

The old building nearby looked like it was an office block or apartments now and after looking on Street View they are apartments

The restaurant did not look very inviting either

In fact it looked it it had been closed a while and from what I can see on Street view is boarded up now

and the shops alongside did not look much better though looking on Street view it is all owned by ALDI a supermarket now

especially when you noticed they were boarded up and is now demolished if Street view is anything to go by

This one looked like it was still in use but then it is a Bingo Hall

but the petrol station told you a lot, if the park had been popular the place would have been open since I took the photo it's been demolished
Admittedly it was around 7:30 in the moring

I'll leave you with another view of the old building till my next tour of Dundee
