Cliveden
Visited a couple of weeks ago with my wife and I thought I'd share some of the photos with you over the next couple of weeks you can read more about Cliveden in the link
The long drive leading to the house
The house is leased by a hotel company from the National Trust
The Fountain of Love is a centrepiece for the long drive
Behind it is this long garden which is the first place we visited
Along which you could see topiary this one I called the Micky Mouse Bird
This statue looked a little modern
The face on this one a little worn
Thought it looked rather comical.
Right a spiral piece of Topiary
From the long garden you come out into the grounds of Cliveden and can see this building
Waling out further you come across sculpture. A little further along you see the remains of the Great Oak. The The branches of which overhung and framed the River Thames you see in the photo below
My wife & I enjoyed our day at Cliveden but there were a lot of people there as it was school holidays so we will return when it is a little quieter and see the parts we missed on our walk around.

Hungry Mouths
These were taken many years ago when I had my first Digital Camera. While visiting a caravan site I noticed a some swallows had made their nests in one of the buildings. Could not miss the opportunity to take some photos
You can see their little heads pokling over the next
Parent looks around after visiting the nest
Mouths opens waiting for food
Turn around and off for more
Waiting for food
Mum obliges and nearly looses her head
Chicks await more
And back they come
Nearby a fledged church looks on waiting it's turn for food

Thames Path at Wallingford
Monday my wife & I took a walk into Wallingford and took a footpath to the Thames at Winterbrook that ran beside Bradfields Brook
It came out by the Assistant Lock keepers Cottage which was built in 1913
Always think it's a odd place and the nearest lock is Benson a few miles away but there was a lock nearby called Charlmore lock
back in the Mid 1800's
a little further along you come across this huge boathouse
with balconies running around the outside
It was built for Oxford University Boat Club
There is a swing bridge to let out the motor boat that follows the rowers
The gates to the boathouse motorboats. Note the initials on the gate
Nearby a few geese were swimming around
After our visit to Wallingford we walked back along the path the way we came leaving the boathouse behind
