This week the Church Explorer visits Radley and St James the Great. A church which is near Radley College and  well worth the effort of visiting.

St Gregory Welford

This week the Church Explorer takes you a bit further along the road from East Shefford to Welford and St Gregory's church the only other church in Berkshire that has a round tower, the church dates back to the 13th century but was extensively restored by the Victorians

St Thomas East Shefford

This week the Church Explorer goes a mile down the road from Great Shefford to visit the Redundant church of St Thomas in East Shefford. The church dates back to the late 11th century 

St Mary Great Shefford

This week the Church Explorer takes you to West Berkshire for the first of  a series of churches that date to Saxon times. Today's  is unusual in that it has a round tower, one of two in Berkshire, the second I will show in a few weeks

St Swithun Compton Beauchamp

This week the Church Explorer visits St Swithun Compton Beauchamp a 13th century church built of chalk and one of the Oxford Diocese Pilgrim Project churches (that gives me another three to visit). This is an interesting church to look around.

St Michael & all Angels Llanfihangel Brynpabuan

Before I start this blog I need to apologise for the fact that last week Posted a blog on a church I had written about just before Christmas, call it a senior moment but I think I just forgot I had already written about it.

This week we travel back to Newbridge on Wye and take the road to Beulah where there are two churches and a chapel I spotted on the way to the second church. The first church is  St Michael & All Angels Llanfihangel Brynpabuan.

St Afan Llanfechan

This weeks Church Explorer comes from St Afan Llanfechan a small country church which is set back off the main A483 road between Builth Wells and Beulah

St. Dubricus Gwenddwr

In this weeks Church Explorer we are back in Wales visiting the last of the churches from the Erwood area I was in before Christmas. You also get to see the chapel that is over the road from the church

Hampstead Norreys

This week I return to visit Hampstead Norreys a village that is mentioned in the Doomsday Book. It is not the first time I have been here but this time I stopped off to get some photos of some chest tombs that had been restored since my last visit, I also got a few photos of the inside 

St Mary Crickadarn

This weeks Church visited by the Church Explorer is St Mary Crickadarn, a Church dating back to the 13th Century and sill with some of it's Medieval features.

St Afan Llanfechan

a church set back off the main A483 on the old road and easy to pass with out noticeing it belongs to the Irfon Valley Benefice

St Barabus Peasemore

This weeks church fetured in my Church Exploer Blog is St Barabus Peasemore  situated in a pleasent Berkshire village not far from Newbury

St Nicholas Beedon

St Nicholas is part of the East Downland Benefice 

and can be found off the A34 on the Oxford Raod which was the A34 origonaly before the built the new one cutting the village off making it a quite place to live. The church dates back to  1220 and has one of the best scratch sundials (mass dial) I have seen. Please visit my blog and look around the church

St Matthew Harwell

Each week I have been trying to feature a church from my Church Explorer Blog, This is not because of any Religious beliefs it is because I feel we in the UK are loosing too many of our churches that are closing because of the lack of a congregation to attend because there are too few clergy to go around an dtoo fee people in the area. I feel the churches need recording because they are part of out heritage and history and should be preserved.

Last year I changed the name of my old Blog from My Grave Place to the Church Explorer this may have been a mistake as the number of hits I had went down, I also miss spelt the address so it reads the churchexporer  now it is too late to change.
