Dark Clouds

These were taken a couple of weeks ago when I went to the vets to collect some tablets for the dog. When I cam out I noticed them working over on a new housing estate, least the last of the houses before they start in the next field. I thought Skywatch and took a couple of photos

 Looks quite dark over there
But I doubt the two guys working on the house are worried

Maybe they should be.

Growing well

Things are growing well in the greenhouse with lots of tomatoes growing (still green) and we have been also eating Cucumbers off the plants you see
as you can see the plants are looking good
The runner beans are growing very well, this photo was taken a week ago and they are a lot bigger now
 As you can see
 Lot's of tomatoes

and cucumbers too
The leeks are growing very well
We pulled a few carrots and had them along with some peas we grew
Also planted more carrots and planted them in various containers

This an old water butt stand I though would be good for more carrots
We also harvested the first potatoes
and we had those along with peas & carrots we grew
That's it for now I'll update again next week

St Laurence South Hinksey

This week the Church Explorer takes you to St Laurence South Hinksey which I have wanted to visit for a while so took the opportunity on my way back from a near by  cemetery.

It was not a church I could get in and see though I thought this would be the case after seeing a photo from a fellow Church Crawler.

Where it was

I was coming back from visiting a church and stopped off here on Hagbourne hill to get a photo towards where the Didcot Power Station used to be. The tall cooling towers and stack have now gone leaving only Didcot B to the left which is not so noticeable
Go to the link of Didcot Power Station where you can see my Blog on it over the years and this view with the power station in full steam
The power Station used to be in line with the barns

I was also messing about with an app I have on my phone and did this to the scene

Take an old Box

I though about buying a trug to grow some more crops in the greenhouse then I my wife said why not uses a storage box. So I remembered I had an old spare one in my garage
So I stuck it on the bench
Marked up where the holes go for drainage
 Drill them
Fit some batons on the base and you are ready to fill it with compost
And some seedlings to grow on
If you wonder  how the rest of the plants are, here you are. If you would like to see what else I have done then have a look at this link for the Alton Greenhouse

New Quarry Sky

I took photos here a while ago showing the elevators being built, then came the Virus and everything stopped, or did it, Sometime during lock down I noticed some work happening around the area then when I got to drive past after we were allowed to Garden centres I noticed a new entrance had been built

The place was now open for business
The clouds threatened rain but it never came
