Three years later

Three years ago I took this photo of some poppies in a field not far from where I live, over to the right you can see a Thatched cottage

Three years later it has all changed

There is a footpath that is open now which meanders around the edge of the estate

It also connects to  the estate

The estate is called Poppy fields, no doubt the poppy head and seeds  sculpture are a nod at this

The butterfly another nod as they are a rarity around here so it's about the only one you will see

The poppy head a sad reminder of what we have lost.

Take Care

  1. That's a big WOW! I do love poppies. The sculptures not so much. I know around here we have a housing shortage, especially for low to middle income residences. But I have sad feelings for the poppy field there. I wonder, since they are wild, if any will still come up and surprise everyone next spring...

  3. The poppy head and butterfly are interesting works of art, and sadly no replacement for what has been lost.

  4. I understand the need for housing and I hope the new estate is priced so that local people can afford to buy/rent the properties. It is a pity they couldn't leave part of the land to remain as a meadow.

  6. What are all the posts sticking up on the estate? What purpose do they serve?

  8. New estates seem to be 'popping up' everywhere and yes, houses are needed but people still need to enjoy open/green spaces, meadows, nature etc.
Surely it is possible to get a happy medium!

    All the best Jan
