Roman Mosaic

One of the exhibits at the British Museum was this show of early Christian remains from the Roman Empire found in Hinton St Mary Dorset

You should be able to blow this up and read it

  This was a wall painting

  A wall Fresco

Close up of the Fresco, Could not say if the last three were from Hinton St Mary but I thought they were amazing.

The bottom ones look as if they have four arms - quite intriquing,

I'm glad that they are preserved.

The romans were really everywhere.

I don't know how anyone makes mosaics. I think they would take ages... I'm just not patient enough!

That mosaic is amazing and I enjoyed reading about it. It was discovered quite recently too. The next time I visit London, I'm going to dedicate more time to the British Museum. I think one could spend weeks there and still not see it all.

These are quite beautiful, and I loved reading the text about the mosaic.

fascvinating glimpse of history. We sometimes forget that murals are one of the first forms of visual art.

I completely love Roman mosaics. So sophisticated. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
