One of the exhibits at the British Museum was this show of early Christian remains from the Roman Empire found in Hinton St Mary Dorset
You should be able to blow this up and read it
This was a wall painting
A wall Fresco
Close up of the Fresco, Could not say if the last three were from Hinton St Mary but I thought they were amazing.
Taking part in Monday Mural
The bottom ones look as if they have four arms - quite intriquing,
ReplyDeleteThet were real masters in painting in the old days.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that they are preserved.
ReplyDeleteThe romans were really everywhere.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how anyone makes mosaics. I think they would take ages... I'm just not patient enough!
ReplyDeleteThat mosaic is amazing and I enjoyed reading about it. It was discovered quite recently too. The next time I visit London, I'm going to dedicate more time to the British Museum. I think one could spend weeks there and still not see it all.
ReplyDeleteThese are quite beautiful, and I loved reading the text about the mosaic.
ReplyDeleteJoli post! De retour sur les blogs, je viens te souhaiter une belle année 2016 remplie de joie dans la création et de petits bonheurs au quotidien.
ReplyDeleteJ'ai beaucoup de posts en retard.
Bises- Cath.
