Mural at the Library

Found this one a few years ago outside Newbury Library but I thought a revisit in order to take some photos of it. As you can see it is quite long so I took a series of frames to give a better idea as it what it was about which is a timeline though Newburys history

Fist frame shows the start of a timeline in 1248

second is the the Newbury Martyrs and the battle of Newbury

Third shows the battles of Newbury

Fourth is the Kennet & Avon Canal

Fifth shows Horse racing and the US 101 airborne at Greenham

And the last is the 3rd Battle of Newbury in 1996

That's an impressive work of art! Seems a shame to have it under foot.

Definitely worth a revisit Bill so much history in this one, was good to enlarge and check out the details closer in.

It's hard for me to imagine living in a town that can date its roots back to 1248. But you've got me wondering what the 3rd battle of Newbury was about. Wonderful mural. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.

Thought someone might ask. The third Battle of Newbury was to do with the Newbury Bypass
