Found this one a few years ago outside Newbury Library but I thought a revisit in order to take some photos of it. As you can see it is quite long so I took a series of frames to give a better idea as it what it was about which is a timeline though Newburys history
Fist frame shows the start of a timeline in 1248
second is the the Newbury Martyrs and the battle of Newbury
Third shows the battles of Newbury
Fourth is the Kennet & Avon Canal
Fifth shows Horse racing and the US 101 airborne at Greenham
And the last is the 3rd Battle of Newbury in 1996
Taking Part in Monday Mural
That's an impressive work of art! Seems a shame to have it under foot.
ReplyDeletereally love these timeline type murals
ReplyDeleteThis is done very nice, a whole history painting on the street.
ReplyDeleteI like this very much. Very creative.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely worth a revisit Bill so much history in this one, was good to enlarge and check out the details closer in.
ReplyDeleteNice one! And it is standing up well to wear & tear.

ReplyDeleteThis cool, I like it. Tom The Backroads Traveller
It's hard for me to imagine living in a town that can date its roots back to 1248. But you've got me wondering what the 3rd battle of Newbury was about. Wonderful mural. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
ReplyDeleteThought someone might ask. The third Battle of Newbury was to do with the Newbury Bypass
