Murals along the Underpass

Another view of the Underpass in reading with the murals on it, as you can see it is all the way along. At the end is the River Kennet which was in full flood at the time. I'll post photos in the near future.

These tile murals very much lighten the underground passages. A public service. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.

They do but I think it needs some spucing up along there

A mural in an underpass is always nice to make the sometimes gloomy atmosphere lighter. In this case a better one . Thanks for showing.

Good composition to draw the eye into the picture.

Helps to make it a bit less spooky

It makes the tunnel a much more friendly place.

I can't argue with what you say, many underpasses are so dull & boreing at least this one give some life to it.

Billy Blue Eyes said...

Thank you Judy though I was only trying to show the mural, never thought of composing the photo

Billy Blue Eyes said...

Yes though I'm not sure I would want to go through at night

Billy Blue Eyes said...

You would like to think so, not sure the weather helped that day

This mural brightens up an otherwise dreary place. So cheerful and full of color!

Such colorful paintings are beautiful. Otherwise the underground were just gray.
Best regards, Synnöve

It turns what could be a nasty place into a friendly one!

Billy Blue Eyes said...

They are but the ceiling spoils it

Billy Blue Eyes said...

Yes Synnöve though many others are dull and dreary

Billy Blue Eyes said...

Yes though I still would not want to go through at night, the river did not look too inviting

Better than plain tiles - more interesting.

I don't know the history of this mural. Was it commissioned? Do people just come by and paint? Here in the states a lot of spaces like this have been taken over by graffiti artists. Some of it is quite lovely, others not so much.

I could not tell you though it looks like it could have been a community effort but I will be returning and will find out more

The passage looks well lit and the murals make it colorful, Bill!

Billy Blue Eyes said...

Needs to be well lit where it is situated, and it does cheer it up

Dana said...

I wouldn't either. :)

You can go through with me then
