The Wall

Today I thought I'd show an old photo I took back in around 1986 while I was working in Berlin. It's the wall looking towards the Brandenburg gate. It was an oppressive looking place. The area which is lower I presume was so people could view over to the East and see the gate.

The next time I went back the wall had gone.

Oppressive seems like a good word to describe it. Nice shot!

This is the third reference to "the wall" that I've run across in 2013. What an experience to have to seen the place with it up and with it down! I saw a chunk of it with my daughter at the Ford Presidential Museum in Michigan. You can check it out at this link if you like. http://nomadicnewfies.blogspot.com/2012/11/presidents-past-and-present.html

I still found it depressing last week. In fact my overwhelming view of Berlin was one of greyness.

That must have been interesting for you to see it when it was used and later when it was demolished.
