Winter market

So there I was in Newbury the other week and saw a big wheel and helter skelter, I thought there must be a fair on. Last weekend I had a quick look and this is what I found.

This was not the best time to visit as it was raining

Not seen one of these in years a Helter Skelter

Unusual type of stall

View of the rides and stalls

This guy really needs bigging up. I thought he was selling tools and I was looking at them when he said they were all chocolate
Cop a load of that, you would think they were wrenches but it's chocolate

Good old German beer on sale
And a look at the Big wheel with Homer in a Santa outfit. BTW I have been on top of the building you see over to the left. Amazing view.

I love seeing the different Christmas markets around the world. This one looks very similar to the ones we have here in Germany. Except you wouldn't find beer here. Hope you enjoyed it. :)

No doubt because you have the beer already. These theamed Christmas markets are springing up round the country and are based on the one held in Germany and the rest of Europe. Might have enjoyed it more had it not been raining

Have to admit I thought them may have gone as well, would have been tempted to try it had the weather not been wet

To someone who travels a lot in the Aussie Outback & lives in the driest state of the driest continent on earth, rain seems SO exotic!! I think I'll drop in whenever I need a change from good ol' OZ weather!!

Feel free to do so. You should have been here last night, as the saying goes rained cats & dogs. It literaly threw it down

I learned something new from your site today. I never knew those round buildings were called Helter Skelters. That's a very colorful market.

It's a big fairground ride. You climb to the top & slide down on a mat. Use dto love it as a kid, adults seem to like it too.

I see there were quite a few people braving the rain to go to the fair. The pictures are beautiful and I think the wet weather makes them even more interesting.

We have one of those fun fairs too! There must be a lot of rides around the country for children to enjoy. Thanks for all your comments. Warmest best wishes to you for a super Christmas!
