Agatha's Birthday

If you had walked around Cholsey or Wallingford in the last few days you would have seen posters & flyers like this around the place

They were advertising the Agath Christie weekend where events were taking place in both Wallingford & Cholsey

There was even a big banner on the old village post office fence

Cream teas were being served in Pavillion (village hall)

and if you were lucky you might even bump into Hercule Poirot

The whole churchard had been cut & cleaned up for the event and flowers decorated her grave
I looked at the dates on here headstone and saw she was born in September 15th 1890, the event was to celebrate her birth

Going back I heard a steam train and went over to the churchyard wall to get a photo of it taking people to Wallingford as part of the even

Any one recognise the train. Yep it's Ivor the Engine which is looked after by the Cholsey & Wallingford Railway

  1. I remember you telling me about Agatha Christie's grave in your local churchyard. Like the way the whole community seems to be involved in the celebrations.

  12. What fun it would be to run into Hercule Poirot. I've recently been watching (again) all the old TV shows starring David Suchet. They are all on Netfix now. I've watched all but the very last one where he dies. I'm not sure I want to watch that one again.
