Medieval wall paintings
These medieval wall paintings (14th Century) were uncovered in North Stoke Church in Oxfordshire
Considering the age I think they have survived very well
Don't you just love it when lost art is found? It's amazing it survived under the later plaster. I especially like doomsday paintings but happily gaze upon any old fragment. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.

I agree, they have aged well! What a neat find.
ReplyDeleteA nice find. That they are preserved so well in time is a kind of miracle.
ReplyDeleteHow interesting..........they must have looked splendid when first painted!
ReplyDeleteSays a lot about craftsmanship and climatic conditions.

ReplyDeleteSo interesting! They are faded but precious.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the artist would think all these centuries later.
