Poppy Clouds

The other week I took our dog to the vets for his check up and while he was in the vets I went to look at a filed that is due to be built on. When I got there I found it covered in poppies the clouds above setting it off

I doubt you will see poppies here next year, only new houses

  2. I hate to think about those poppies being plowed under for more houses. Beautiful photos, especially #2!

  4. I hope they retain some of the area for wildflowers. Do tell us more about what is to happen to the land.

    1. If you look at the second photo, just over to the left you can see a rooftop, that is part of the housing estate that has just been built in an adjoining field, this one was purchased for the same purpose. Shame really as it opens up a floodgate for other developments nearby

    2. We've just had a notice put through the door campaigning against a housing estate being built in our valley. It would be on land that gets flooded so it seems unwise for permission to go ahead. Lesson don't seem to be learnt about building on unsuitable land.
It's all about profit although, of course, housing is very much needed.

    3. Not sure it stops them now, a field by Tesco in Didcot was built up by a metre to alow a housing estate to be built but I still think they will have problems

  5. It is so sad to see so much of the "wild" spaces being developed. If it's anything like over here, they will totally obliterate the poppies, and then name the housing development "Poppy Fields" or somehing.

    1. I agree with you though the field is calling to be built on which is a shame

  8. Too bad to learn that proposed new housing will take over this lovely field of poppies, Billy.
