St Swithun Kennington
This week the Church Explorer visits St Swithun Kennington, a 1950's church that replaced it's older counterpart that is still in use as the Church Hall
The 1950's architecture is nowhere near as charming and warm looking as the old church. . . . . . just great that they didn't knock it down! I would probably spend more time in what is now the church hall which must have a long history. . . . . . . and hopefully central heating, haha!!!!! Have a good Sunday Bill - we're watching our Friday snow melt in the sunshine. Mary -

The old church was built in 1828 which supprised me as it looks older. We are watching the rain clouds no doubt more rain on the way
DeleteYes I assumed thechurch was much older than that.
ReplyDeleteI did as well till I looked at the outside then saw the foundation stone
DeleteIt does have a 1950's look about it. The older building looks as though it's been there forever.
ReplyDeleteBoth are beautiful.
