A few months ago I visited a church in this town but took a few moments to get some photos of the village and one particular building I had noticed.
By the church a reminder of the sacrifice the village made during both world wars
From there you look down the road through the village with the Welsh hills beyond
Over the road is the village school
But it is this old hotel I found of interest
And the Art Deco canopy over the door with Temperance & Commercial on the ends. Fist time I have come across this, Obviously did not want drunken travellers staying here. Sham it closed it would have been interesting to see inside.
Taking Part in Our World Tuesday
Lovely entrance to that hotel!
ReplyDeleteIt is , pity it is not still used
DeleteAn interesting find Bill.
ReplyDeleteOften looked at it finally managed to get a photo of it
DeleteDer Eingang zum Hotel ist klasse.

Ich auch so
DeleteWonderful that that porch has been preserved. The architecture is very reminiscent of a regular pub and I wonder if there used to be a public bar on the left and a snug or lounge on the right as there was in almost every pub in the country.
ReplyDeleteI find it a shame many of these places have closed and now finding a pub with a public bar & snug is rare
DeleteWhat an interesting find! I love the art deco sign.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful village to explore. I love that old pub.
ReplyDeleteIt's these small village memorials that I find particularly eloquent- it might be a handful of names of young men who didn't come back from war, but you just know that everyone in the village knew at least one of them. The hole is that much bigger.
