Roman Villa to be precise. The villa dates back to the 2nd century, and was discovered in 1864 when an estate worker came across some mosaic tiles. The place is now owned by the National Trust and work continues in uncovering the villa

Wonderful photos, looks like an interesting place.
ReplyDeleteI love visiting places like this. We have lots of Roman stuff in Canterbury, but most of it is under the town! I think our Roman pavement exhibit needs a bit of updating though - it was looking a little sorry last time I went. Lovely photos.

ReplyDeleteI love the underfloor heating!
ReplyDeleteSurprised not to know of Chedworth, although I've been to a few Roman villas. Thanks for enlightening me!
