Today I am showing you the River Kennet as it passes through the Oracle shopping center in Reading. Here we look towards the London Street road bridge (the arch you see through the near bridge). The building you see on the left is the Blade.
This blog is to showcase some of the photo's I've taken, the pictures can be from my archive of many years or taken recently. They are from where I live and the various places I have been. I hope Enjoy my work and come back to visit again

The Oracle
Today I am showing you the River Kennet as it passes through the Oracle shopping center in Reading. Here we look towards the London Street road bridge (the arch you see through the near bridge). The building you see on the left is the Blade.
Wow, the flooding aounds like it was awful.. Glad everything is back to normal now. Looks like a pretty shopping area! Have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteI think it was, the Kennet here flows into the Thames further along past the Blade so it backs up
DeleteGlad to see your water is receding. That's amazing the water got so high!
ReplyDeleteThis was just before Christmas so hopefully it looks like this again now
DeleteNice photos, Bill!
ReplyDeleteThank you
DeleteNice pictures - I have just started reading a book called Silt Road which is about following a river, many of the sections of the river flow through urban areas like this - the river starts near High Wycombe.
ReplyDeleteCheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
High Wycombe is to the north of Reading There is a river or somthing flows from there called the River Wye and somthing called the Dyke, seems to join the Thames

ReplyDeleteCrikey, that would have dampened the market a bit... YAM xx
(PS - Dunoon mugs are manufactured in Stone, Staffordshire...sad but true.)
Yes it would have. Never knew that about Danoon
DeleteThere is so much going on beside the river as it flows through such a busy town. Good to see the river has receded.
ReplyDeleteI need to get a photo on a sunny day, those look a little grim
DeleteI'm afraid climate variability is wreaking havoc on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
ReplyDeleteYour not wrong there, least it is sunny today here
DeleteI like the look of this shopping area.
ReplyDeleteThat is mostly places to eat along this area but over to the right of the second photos is the shopping cerntre (mall) where I'm sure you would enjoy going round
DeleteThe buildings seem to be built very close to the river.
ReplyDeleteThere is one called Holy Brook which flows under the shopping centre by the place does not get flooded
DeleteIsn't it funny how all the new buildings have such sharp names now, the shard, the cheese grater, and this one... the blade! It's such a relief that the rain has ceased and the rivers are receding slightly.
ReplyDeleteYes your right about the names. The photo was taken before Christmas but it's good the floods are now subsiding
DeleteIt is so beautiful there. Such a lovely city.
ReplyDeleteIt looks nicer on a sunny day or in the spriing & summer as for city they is something Reading would like to be called, it still a town
DeleteWhat a pretty view!
ReplyDeleteIt would look nicer if it was sunny
Deleteinteresting. I remember seeing this place before. Maybe on your blog. :) I liket what seems to be lamps or something.
ReplyDeleteNot sure I've shown this before but there are photos of the place around.
DeleteWow! Did the flooding last long? I heard that the U.S. east coast is expecting a blizzard. I hope none of that weather system turns into rain for you.
ReplyDeleteYep. Crikey.
ReplyDeleteUK buildings are amazing. Beautiful part of the world.
