DeleteNot entirely correct, this is pure canal. The River Kennet splits off about a mile west from here (the direction you're looking in), runs about 1/4 mile south from here and joins the canal again two miles or so east at Ufton.
ReplyDeleteThe basin on the right used to be a bit longer and was a link to the railway, where goods were transferred between the canal and railway. But that was a long time ago.
Thanks I've changed it to Navigation from river. I wondered what it was over to the right as I could see part went on further then was cut off.
